Guestbook

-           Our sporting association was founded in December 1947 on the Market Place in a local pub called “Café Jan Bieseman”.

-           Known under the name of “De Vrijschutters” the founders were: Fernand Verschaffel, Richard De Smet, Adam Verschaffel, Alphonse Meerpoel, Marcel Absalum, Leon Curens, Simon Marginet, Arthur Roman en Romain Paquez.

-           In March 1998 our association got officially it’s nowadays name "KONINKLIJKE VRIJSCHUTTERS GERAARDSBERGEN vzw”.

-           Our association knows from its foundation in 1948 a permanent increasing growth; not only in what concerns the growing number of our members, but also concerning its possibilities.

-           It all began in a very familiar sphere with about ten members only using a bullet-carbine “large 6 mm”. Later they started shooting with air-pistol and air-riffle.

-           With the growing amount of new members, we also learned to know small arms such as pistols and revolvers of different calibres. Therefore we had to adjust our permits and accommodations for these new disciplines.

-           Nowadays - as a member of our club - you have the choice between 6 full-automatic 25m tracks and 14 full-automatic 10m tracks.

-           Due to the personal efforts of our members we also have the opportunity of having official referees, shooting masters and by the BLOSO (Belgian League of Sports Organisation) licensed trainers.

-           Our shooting-members take part in interclub-competitions and all kinds of national competitions.

-           The first and most important rules to become a sport shooter are discipline and a good physical condition.

-           During the last few years we pay special attention to youth formation. Therefore our club has been recognized as “National Training Center” for the province of the east of Flanders.

-           This has been possible thanks to a good management, the personal input of our members and a remarkable team spirit on what concerns training and competition areas.

-           In 2009, we have the honour to organise the “Belgian Open Air” (Belgian Championship) air pressure weapons.

-           The special support of sympathizers is very important; that’s why I want to thank our sponsors and advertisers for their contributions.
